Hi Sue,
Yes it is a long time since we exchanged notes. I'm afraid I haven't done any research in to the family for some time.
In the late60's/early 1970's my Dad took me to Wraysbury and showed me Bowry Farm and what I recall imperfectly as Bowry Manor, and if I recall correctly, also some cottages called, not surprisingly Bowry Cottages. Probably the manor ws "old Bowry House"? He did not know of any connection to our family although someone in his family had said (I guess it may have been made up, but could have a germ of truth in it) that the Bowry's that lived there had at some time worked for the Royal estate at Windsor, and were relatives. Probably a load of rubbish and was what someone in the family would have liked to believe. Of course there were Bowry's at Wraysbury who were church wardens (easy to find in a Google search), and if my knowledge of history is right, they therefore would have had some status and money, i.e. not like church wardens today who are elected in to a role. I went back in the mid-1990's with my own children to find much of what I remembered flattened and replaced with a new road (Bowry Drive?) and some big detached houses on the farmland and where the houses had stood. One day I may just find the photos my Dad took of us by the farm or manor house....
