Thank you. I have been in touch at length with Lucinda since that 2008 question was posted. The "well documented and well posted" information about this family is not very accurate, as we found out. Cyprian's second wife, the widow Mary Mayhew Cole, did not put out any of her children and it was she, Mary, NOT Rachel, who drowned in the millpond in Pinhook abt 1850. A local historian, Ruby Emery, edited some of the documents related to this affair, and unfortunately got a number of facts wrong in the process. All of the people mentioned here seem to be buried in unmarked graves, so you may never find them with any certainty. Mary may have been buried with her first husband, Daniel Cole, Sr. in Greenwood, but there are no stones for either. Rachel may be buried in what is known as the "Whale's Back" Cemetery in Pinhook, North Woodstock, but I don't think there is any stone for her. Cyprian may be in the same cemetery in Pinhook, or in whatever was the closest graveyard to the Woodstock Town Farm where he died. Finding that spot might be possible with help from the Woodstock Historical Society, but there are almost surely no stones for the paupers. What I have often wondered is -- why was Cyprian left to die on the Town Farm when he had at least 4 living adult children at the time of his death?
