You will find your Mayberry Bowen listed as Mabry Bowen on the land tax records of Mecklenburg Co from 1816-1818. He paid taxes on 16.25 acres on Buffalo Creek adjoining Peter Z Overby. This is the same part of the county where David Bowen's family lived. Benjamin Bowen mentioned in another response was a son of David Bowen. There is a deed that proves the children of David Bowen, but Mayberry was not named. However, a daughter Nancy Bowen m John Sparks. Mayberry was most likely a grandson of David rather than a son. David Bowen was a son of William Bowen and Amy who came originally from Bristol Parish. See wills, deeds, tax records, etc for these Bowens at http://members.nbci.com/fcharper/bowens.htm
