Over the years I've seen positive declarations that Israel Boone's wife was a Seneca, a Delaware, a Cherokee, an African, a Melungeon, a Portuguese, and a prostitute. Imaginative genealogists have claimed her name was Mary Wharton, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Nancy. Now we are hearing that Israel married Martha Farmer in the Montgomery Township Baptist Church, with date, preacher and witnesses provided. Has anyone actually seen the original document from 1747? It seems strange to me that it took so many years to find this marriage record, and that, once found, no one has posted an image of it, or even given a reference to where it can be found. As far as I'm concerned, until someone produces documentation, the only thing we know about Mrs. Israel is that she was not a Quaker. I would be very excited to learn the identity of Israel Boones' wife, but only if it is correct and reasonably well-documented.
For what it's worth, my mother and I are descended through Israel's son Jesse and we have no Native American DNA.
