They are from the state tax lists which began in 1782 in VA and KY. The VA lists are available at the Library of VA, but can be purchased on CD at:

The KY lists are on microfilm at the KY Dept. for Libraries and Archives. I am not sure whether they lend them through Inter-Library Loan or not. They are also available through the LDS Family History Centers and at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.

I will be glad to send you (or anyone else) my abstracts of the Blantons in Knox/Harlan and Lee VA tax lists. I also have Louise McDonald's research on John of Harlan and William of Lee. It was not included in the Ramey Book, available at:
