Sorry to see that this board appears to be dying! No entries except mine since October.
Thought I'd share the surprising results of our DNA study-we had no exact matches at the 12/12 level, our first match was at 12/13. The haplogroup (L) we appear to be from shows our closest matches in INDIA!!!!
My earliest known ancestor in the Blank line was born in 1831 in Germany. The indian ancestor was a complete surprise. Haplogroup L is rare in the databases, so we have to wait for more matches to appear to know more. We have ordered the confirming haplogroup test to be sure it is correct. There was an isolated group called Roma which lived in India at one time, which branched out across the world, better known to most of us as gypsies, which is one possibility, but I've also heard that there may not be any haplogroup L in the Roma, at least not in those tested. If anyone is interested in being part a surname group of Blank, please contact me, we will start one; it will make your rate lower when buying the kits. We have also ordered the 12-37 marker refinement test, to get our full story.
