I am trying to locate the birthplace of my 3rd great grandfather Henry (Heinrich) Best Sr. who immigrated to the USA in 1827. He lived in Albany NY briefly before relocating to Chicago in 1833. He was one of the earliest settlers of Chicago, born on July 02, 1804 and died Feb 21, 1892.

All I know about his birthplace is it was in Prussia and I don't know much beyond that. I have suspicion he could have been from Darmstadt, as his wife and other family members have been from this region.

If anyone has any advice on how to find his birthplace - and any information beyond that - I would greatly appreciate it!
