Thomas Bentley born in the West of England.
Thomas came to this country in 1711 with his father, an officer in the British forces. The night before the fleet sailed for Canada, he was left in Boston with Mr. Withrige, a shipwright as an apprentice. The expedition failing, his father was one of the sufferers. He served his time, went to sea a few years, then set up his trade followed it near 60 years and died with a very respectable chararcter. He was born May 3, 1698 or 9.
