Just when you think its all quiet and starting to prepare for Christmas, out of the woodwork pops another one, BEDFORD that is!
I am also descended from Kingston Bedford (GGG Grandfather) and James Bedford (GG Grandfather) through my maternal G Grandmother ROSE BEDFORD who married George Woodstock in 1879 in Amersham.
I have been communicating with Sandra over the past few weeks, after discovering we were 3rd Cousins by our Bedford ancestry, I am really pleased to find 2 more people who are tracing the same line, although Kingston & Elizabeth is as far back as I have got. How did you find Elizabeth's surname and do you have any clues as to Kingston's parents?
Kingston & Elizabeth both fascinate me, he has such an emotive name, I wonder what the origin is, as it is not a common local name in this area of Bucks. (I was brought up in this area). Elizabeth too, is interesting. Sandra discovered that Sicily was once ruled by German Barons, then I considered that since Elizabeth was born in 1807, she could have been the daughter of a British Soldier serving in Sicily in 1806 during the Napoleonic Wars. It is a very English name and it is possible that wives travelled with their soldier husbands to war, so her mother could have been English or Sicilian, returning with the regiment to the uk after the campaign. WHAT DO YOU KNOW?
I knew nothing of Kingston's other wife, does anyone have marriage dates and sources? Which one came first and when did she die?.
I am more than happy to share any info on the Bedford's that I have, my records are computer based so I can exchange .ged files if you use them. I live in Stansted in Essex, but get across to Bucks fairly frequently to visit my Mother.
Regards,
Colin
