Charles Baum was born in Wurttemberg, Germany, according to the History of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He and his brother Heinrich (Henry) came in the boat "Hero", (Ralph Forster, Master) from Rotterdam, but last from Cowes (England). They arrived at Philadelphia, October 27, 1764, where they took the "Oath of Allegiance." His name on the ship list is given as Carl Ludwig and it is not known why he changed it to Charles.

I haven't worked on the Baums for a long time, but have quite a bit of info on them.
