PLEASE HELP!!!
I have still not been able to find a paper trail for George W.Bailey, my husbands Grandfather. The only thing I HAVE found is :
Marriage licence in Ohio Co. Ky. Geo. married Drucilla Bennett Feb.13, 1887. Her father was E.R. Bennett.
Per marriage bond: George was born in Bracken Co. Ky. His father in Pendelton Co. Ky. and his mother in Bracken Co. Ky. NO NAMES are listed for his parents.Bond states George was 23 yrs. old and Drucilla was age 16.
1900 Daviess Co. Ky. census: George age 33, with wife Drucilla age 28, and 2 children, Ohrel L. age 11 and Bessie M. age 3. This census also states that George's parents were born in Va., this differs from the marriage bond, but their ages do also, a bit.
1910 Census: George now is living alone, age 44, back in Ohio Co. Ky.
Drucilla has left George and is with Henry Morris till her death in 1956. She & Henry are buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Owensboro, Ky.
My husbands father O. Lee has married and out on his own. Lee married Antha Graves Dec. 1907 in Daviess Co. Ky. Lee works on a farm outside of Owensboro, Lee's parents supposedly are still together at this time and live in the area of this farm where Lee works. Lee goes on to work for the Owensboro Buggy Co. and then the Owensboro Wagon Factory in the gear room from 1911 - 1916. Lee & Antha eventually move to Evansville, In. where he works at a ship yard on the Ohio River. Antha dies in Apr.1943. Lee remarries to Mildred Howard [my husbands line] in Aug.1944.
The last thing I have on George is his death. In the Messenger ~ Inquirer newspaper. "Fordsville man found dead at home." George was believed to have died from a heart attack Oct. 7, 1935, he was buried Oct. 10, 1935 in Fordsville Cemetery. His grave is unmarked & the funeral home has no record of plot he was buried in. From funeral records, a S. P. Tucker, Carl C. Bailey and Mrs. Tho. Pullman paid for his burial. I have no idea who these people could be. The S.P. Tucker may be a link to George & Drucillas daughter, Bessie May, since she married a Tucker.
George had already passed away before my husband was born, so he never knew his Grandfather, and Lee, my husbands father was already elderly when Jerry was born, [abt. 60 yrs. old] and had a stroke in Jerry's early teens and Lee never truely recovered from the stroke. Of course Lee and his sister Bessie have passed, and with them went any info on George.
I know this is a long query, and I'm sorry. I have searched everthing I know to search. If ANYONE has a George Bailey born between 1864 -1866 in northern Ky, southern Ohio, Va., or W.Va., and can't place, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! let me know. ANY possible leads on parents or siblings, cousins, [ANYBODY!], I don't mind searching at this point since I am at a dead end. Thank you for reading this. Judy
