Robert Austin of Charleston, SC married Margaret Berwick. In the mid 1700s, prior to the Revolution a Robert Austin was named on deeds and some other documents as a J. P. (Justice of the Peace) and Pub. Reg. (Public Registrar?) as he appraised property for sale or as the result of a probated will. I am seeking information on this Robert Austin and his wife Margaret Berwick. I know that he lived in Charleston, SC at this time and must have had some education to be in this position as JP and Pub. Reg. and to attest to the properties of the prominent citizens' properties on which his signature appears. ANY information will be helpful. Thanks.
