Robert I was not aware of your Warren Connection. I have a few ODD links to this Warren Family myself. Here it is for you to wounder about.
Admiral Warren the Uncle of Sir William Johnson whos family I can claim freely are related to me several ways.
The Warrens in America were implicated by name to the Gunpowder Plot to blow up Parliment as were the Gage and Keyes family with Guy Falkes. General Gage of Bunker Hill fame like the Admiral were Irish Aristocratic titles. I am related tot he "Other GAGES" in America muself ..but its the Bunker Hill connection that excites me.
The Painting of the Battle of Bunker Hill by Trumbell from Lebenon Ct (Must have known our family) depicts the postrate Dr. Warren being attacked by Bayonnet by a grenedier. A British captain is deflecting the point of the blade away from the injured doctor. WHY?
He is Captain Joseph Small and he settled here in Niagara and had a son babtised as Joseph Atwell Small.
He boarderd in the home of the doctor and said he "Loved him as a father". Joseph Small financed a chaplin Rev.Atwell back in England. Small got caught up in a DUELL in Canada and this lead to a revolt in 1837...
However as Trumbell depicted the battle the Top of the REAL Bunker Hill (Not Breeds Hill) was owned by the SPRAGUE family. I decend from Mercy Sprague by way of the TUBBS.
High Admiral Spragge was her great Uncle and fought in the Dutch War as predicessors to the Warrens. It was a Tubbs\Sprague that married Sir William Johnsons lines here int he Chapel of the Mohawks. The Circle is growing more and more narrow as you find out that General Thomas Gage sent his Orange County Militia to my ancestors home in Nova Scotia to BEAT their drums loudly beneath a Liberty Tree.
The Johnsons\ Brants are related to me as is Peter Warren Dease (Look him up ) so if your related to the "Other" WARRENS who died on Bunker Hill we are once again finding connecting Surnames that have been certainly together in an historical sence. I have more links to the Trumbell family as well in Lebenon that makes this even stranger still as this is where Joseph Brant was educated only a city block away from where the Trumbells lived.
We really need to do the DNA testing to see if our seperate lines were really so seperate after all.
