Surnames: Ashford and Unknown
I am trying to research a friend's biological family. His mother is Elaine Rose Ashford, Born Aug 31, 1947 in Kansas. Her family was from the Wichita area and she attended Sacred Heart College in Wichita where she met the biological father. She never told her family or the father she was pregnant and left Kansas to have her son. The priest set up an internship/job for her in San Diego, California so she could have him in secret. After the birth she came back to Kansas, and college to get her degree.

I have no names on Biological Dad, although I know he was a basketball player at Sacred Heart College. I have been trying to locate year books for 1966-1970, but no luck! I know dad's family were farmers, 7 boys and 3 girls, German, and bio dad was the youngest child. He is supposed to have olive skin (which is odd for German), hazel eyes, and be about 5'10". He is supposed to have had one sister with breast cancer (I am guessing sometime in the 60's as I dont know if she kept in contact with him after her son's birth in 1969). I was also told Bio Dad attended Sacred Heart College and was a Senior the year the son was born. I just dont know if that is the 68-69 or 69-70 school year. I know he was 23 years old in June 1969, but I do NOT know his birth date. Also, bio mom said his name was John.

One point that I have learnt through this process before researching adopted out children - birth mom's LIE so you cannot find the birth fathers. (Obviously if they would not tell the father they are pregnant or their families, lying is not out of the question!) Some of this may be inaccurate or a complete fabrication. Most of the time, the data seems to be altered, but not a totaly lie.

How can you help??? Does any of this sound familiar? Do you have any school yearbooks, ream rosters, or anything from those years that would help?
