If Assunta died after WW2 you should be able to get her death record from the town of Cassino which covers San Michele. Also the childrens' birth records as all citizens in the area were required to reconstruct their birth and marriage records after the originals were destroyed during the bombing.
Records before 1866 are on microfilm and can be ordered and viewed at any Family History Centre www.familysearch.org
