I apologize for not replying to your message board posting sooner.

I have thousands of names and families from Triggiano in my files and I have never heard of Riganti. I have a spreadsheet of marriages 1743-1910 and no Riganti is in this list.

I also checked Ellis Island and none of the 28 Rigantis come from Triggiano. The closest was one from Giovinazzo which is a town that is a few miles away.

What document do you have that says your Riganti came from Triggiano? I'm curious because it could hold a clue to a name change or a connection to his mother's family that could be a common Triggiano family.
