Distant cousins of mine went to Uruguay from Alsace in the latter half of the 19th century. The earliest appear to have been Lucien Meny (born 1810 in Fellering, Haut-Rhin, France)

and Michel Naviliat (born 1822 in Oderen, Haut-Rhin, France)

both of whom arrived in what is now Nueva Helvecia in July 1862. By 1868 François Joseph Dreyer (born 1829 in Ranspach, Haut-Rhin, France)

was also living there. Later arrivals included Aloyse Bobenrieth (born 1829 in Ranspach)
