Dear John,
Thank you for the response, sorry it took me so long to realize I even had one, and then I only found out by accident. Indeed it is a WWI registration card. I have since found another record showing that he is from Kowne Russia, which I have also learned is Kaunas in Lithuanian, perhaps this is a village close by. I also found that Kaunas went by many names depending on if you were Lithuanian or Polish, Kaunas (Lithuanian) Kauen in German, Kowne in yiddish, Kovna in Russian, Kowno in Polish) I have searched for the village before I sent this notice out but could find nothing matching, but also considered it could be an abbreviation since there is a period after it, and perhaps a village in the Kaunas region? Any ideas? I attach the complete form, if you are still around I would appreciate any input..Thanks again Joseph-
