William's second wife, Mrs. Ida Mae (Jewell} Farrley, was my great-great-grandmother's niece.
I'm afraid I can't tell you much about his origins. I have yet to discover who his parents were. He was born between 1869 and 1871 in Dunedin, NZ.
After Lily's death (d. Alameda Co., CA on 2 Aug 1916) he married Ida Mae (m. 19 Feb 1918).
William was a prominent Rice Grower. He held a minor government post in Puerto Rico during the Hoover Administration. In 1931 he was made an Officer of the French Légion d'honneur.
On July 9, 1937, William and Ida were in a dreadful car crash. Their car hit a bridge railing and then plummeted over the Alexander Valley Brdg., near Hopland, CA. They were left stuck underneath the bridge for more than an hour before a passing motorist heard their cries for help. Initially it appeared that both would survive, but Ida died later that day. William died 15 days later.
