Mary, Thank you so much for this info, I have been searching for ages, trolling through newspapers, records etc, I had most of what you were able to give me but not the intestate notice or the info on his parents, I did know his father was Daniel Pinney, and I found an old newspaper article from Northamptonshire about 1861 with Thomas and partner dissolving their courier/Mail business at Northamptonshire, I also found reference to a Mr Pinney courier driver running over a small child in Manchester in the 1860's, also two years later when Pinney's child was also run over in the same area. But I have not been able to track down his first wife's death details and how many children they had together, and what happened/why did Marth stay in England and they come out at the age of 18. all unanswered questions. I don't know how ou did it but thank you so much.
On Samuel's Marriage Certificate it states his father as a poultry farmer and on his arrival to New Zealand he was listed as a Horsekeeper, Family rumour had that he drove coaches as well. There is lots of family knowledge from Young Samuel B Pinney's life down the family line but no one knows anything about his parents, which I find very odd. Thank you for all your assistance.
May I ask what your interest in the Pinney name is and why? Re Samuel using "Penny", family say that he was always known as Penny until one day someone came to his wife's door and said "the correct spelling is Pinney" but no one could tell me who that person was. I am also going to try and find out if Thomas and Ellen ever had children of their own as they were only 35 when going to NZ. Again thank ou for all your help. Michelle
