Albert Stone joined the Royal Horse Artillery aged 18 in 1902. He served a total of 10 years serving in England and Bangalore India. He left the army to come to Australia arriving in Rockhampton in 1911 to work on the Queensland Railway for 2 years. He then became a sugar farmer in the Sarina area. When WW1 broke out he sailed on the 'Macedonia' from Sydney for Plymouth 23/1/14 as a Imperial Reservist to become part of the British Mediterranean Expeditionary Force serving in Africa and Gallipoli. He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field published in the London Gazette 9 November 1916. He returned to farming in Australia. He then enlisted again in the Australian Army on 28.6.1940 in Rockhampton and discharged in 1944. Unfortunately he died in the UK whilst on holiday in 1956. He had an outstanding record whilst he was in the army.
