The ironside family were early settlers in the Mackay area, A George Ironside took out a Horse & Cattle brand (GU8) licence (Cert No 13022) for a run or farm at Mackay on 16th June 1877.

A George Ironside of Eton was appointed a JP 27th July 1895.
