thanks ever so much for your reply. Since my original post last year I have done more research and also been on a long awaited trip out to Charleville, Quilpie, Eromanga and Thargomindah etc. While out at Quilpie we met John Murray and he is such a fountain of information.
We also had a look at the Royal Hotel at Eromanga and visited the museum but did not see you friend's uncle, unfortunately.
My gr gr grandmother Mary Dalton (nee Gray) was living on Euroungella when Mary took sick in 1890. John Dalton, her husband, took her to the hospital at Thargomindah when Mary was seen by Dr Fitzgerald. Mary's condition was proclaimed hopeless and she died at the Thargomindah hotel a couple of days later.
My family is having a family reunion this year at Thargomindah and will place a memorial plaque in the Thargo cemetery in respect of Mary.
If you have any info about my John and Mary Dalton or the children of Mary's first marriage to Michael Seery (the bushranger) I would be delighted if you could share it with me. I do not know the period of time John and Mary were at Euroungella however they were there in 1890. I feel John may have carted the wool clip and did general carrier type work as well and maybe general farm work.
As an aside, I have not found a family tree link between my Dalton family and the Dalton's who were the publicans at Charleville etc.
