You asked for thoughts on policeman/trackers being bought 2000 k's to track the Kenniff Bros.
Apparently in 1879, six Queensland blacktrackers, a constable and an Inspector O'Connelly were brought down from Queensland to Victoria to help chase the Kelly Gang. So not unheard of to do so.
