The State skating rink had quite a history. It was located at Enoggera Ter Red Hill It started off as the State Theatre and then it was converted to a sound lounge then a chap named Ray Otto bought or leased it & turned it into a skating rink. Myself and a few other mates gave Ray a hand to lay the new floor of masionite panels screwed down and then coated it with a protective layer of something like estapol. After that was finished we had to assemble all the skates. Then we used to work their for the sessions handing out skates to the customers. After a few years Ray moved down to the Gold Coast & the building was left vacant until it was destroyed by fire.
