Re... "If he wanted nursing care I would have thought he would have got it in Mildura where his family were living at the time?"
Only his daughters were living at Mildura, at the time, he was nearing death. His wife, Emily, would not have cared for him, as their marriage had already broken down.
As I have said, sooo many times in this thread; somebody needs to buy a birth certificate for one of the children to confirm, the identity (birthplace) of this Robert BYE.
OR,
Better still, take a look at the, handwritten Marriage Certificate, here on Ancestry ....

Cynthja, Emily GARBETT, the legal wife of Robert BYE, was not an aboriginal woman, as you have stated....
"Robert Bye arrived in Australia on the Hersperus in 1883. He was listed as a single man, ag. labourer. This is not the same Robert Bye, farmer that lived in Tasmania. Nor is he the same Robert Bye, Miner that lived in Bendigo.
He married an Aboriginal woman named Emily (as above with several surnames). It appears he may not have lived with her for much of the time as she spend a fair portion of her life at Yelta Mission - two of her children were born there. Indeed they may not have been legally married."
Jane Inskipp.... this is your man!
Remember, his parents names were Robert BYE, and Joyce TEA.
A witness at his marriage on 10 June 1883, at Birmingham, was Charles TEA.
