My Salzwedel's are a bit more elusive:

Wilhelm Salzwedel and Petronella Rabach (Kubach) came to Wausau, Marathon County Wisconsin with their daughter Bertha Salzwedal in 1892.

Their last place of residence was listed both as Disterberg and Naugard on the two ship manifests I found. My awesome translation buddy let me know that Düsterbeck in Kreis Naugard, Prussia was most likely the correct place.

Bertha Married William Schwede in 1893 (where I found the mother's maiden name information) and the parents disappeared from there. They may have been living with William and Bertha in 1895, but I cannot be sure, as the head of household was the only one listed on those Census. There are 3 German born people living with him though, and he was born in Wisconsin. It was either her parents or his I'm sure. But I digress.

I also found some strange information on familysearch.org, being Russian to American immigration indexes for both William and Petronella. Both of their names and the city Wausau were listed on these indexes.

Bertha and William are my direct lineage - Great-great grandparents, and I would love to find more information on the Salzwedel family. If anyone has any information to share, or would like more information from me - please use my email:
