Hi Barbara,
Have a great trip to France, hope you find St. Benoit in Paris and St. Michel-le-Clouq near La Rochelle if you can, but... don't worry if you don't...
Naturally, the FDL and Brown Co. RW message boards & mailing lists would enjoy any photos you might post a link to, also any description of your hunt for the ROY ancestors so many of us share.
The ROY family is interesting to explore. Besides being a direct descendant of 2 of the approximately 17 children of Pierre ROY & Catherine Ducharme, Tom found he has lines back to England & Scotland via a "foster daughter" in the ROY household. [Elizabeth CORSE, captured & marched to Canada following the 1703 Deerfield Massacre, ransomed by Pierre ROY. She liked life in Laprairie so much, she married 2 different French Canadians and refused to return to MA.]
The ROYs were in New France a century before 1776, and the extensive French-Canadian records are so much fun to research. So you can look forward to much more after you return!
Bon Voyage,
Tom & Barb Glassel
