There is a message posted on the Bowyer Board...Adam and Christine Lauderback post that has the following info....The American Boyers, Page 23: B (6) James Bowyer, probably a son of Michael Bowyer and wife, lived in Montgomery County, Va. Married Frances Steadman. Children: Col. Thomas Bowyer of Montgomery County, VA and Colonel John Bowyer, for whom Fort Bowyer was named on Mobile Bay. It is now called Fort Moraan. Colonel John was a gallant officer. There may have been other children. Hope this helps you! I am researching Michael Bowyer, Adam also. The above info was in a reply to a question that had previously been posted. You might check records for the Forts mentioned...records about war service since Colonel John and Col. Thomas are listed. Also if you go to this site, www.genealogical.com. and type in under the search field the name "Bowyer" (just the last name) it will pull up lots of names, and references to material they have...it's all for sale, but the names are listed and tied to the war, etc. they were in by the book/periodical listed. If you have any trouble, contact me at sheilakline47@yahoo.com. Good luck!
