Even though I didn't know exactly where the fort was, we drove along the road that follows Coon's Run. We stopped and let the kids play in the little park along that road.

We'll probably be back there next year and I'll take your directions with me. I'll see if I can contact land owners and see if I can get permission to visit the site.
