During my research of the Cival War as related to Wheeling and Moundsville WV I had came across the Anthemium and Camp Chase prisons. Wheeling's prison I believe was a temporary prison and those refusing to sign a loyality pledge were sent on to Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio.
I also camp across a claim stating that the old wagon gate at Moundsville prison existed prior the building this prison. It it claimed the wagon gate was a small territoral prison during the Civil War. Has anyone seen any notation in this regard?
