I have been updating where I can, and will post what I have, hoping to hear from any of you who have been posting on this thread recently. Lois, I would love to see your line, and hope that at least some of what I have is correct! I would be so interested to know the father of Henry, Reuben, and Merrill, the original trio. My direct email, should you not find it elsewhere here, is svickery@knology.net. I can send the file directly, should it be too hard to read or work with here.

Sarah Whitcher Vickery

And now, this is what I have at the moment! Obviously, much of this is speculative, so feel free to point out errors.

Notes for WILLIAM HARRISON WHITTIER:
1930 census has a W.H. Whittier, age 40, born in Washington living in California. Man in tree's father's name was Merrill; man on census named his son Merrill. I believe they are one and the same, so have added the wife and child; this needs checking. Birth places of parents already on tree agree with birth places as listed on the 1930 census.

WWI draft registration card says that William Harrison Whittier was born on September 2, 1889 in Forks, Clallam, Washington, and was currently living at 5022 17th Ave. NE, Seattle, Washington. He was a student at the university, and was single. He had been a private in the university cadet program for two years. A statement at the end of the card says "Has passed examination for a commission in the Engineers' Officers Reserve, Class A." He was described as of medium height and medium build, with blue eyes and black hair.

U.S. Passport Applications, 1795-1925 (Ancestry.com): confirms his birth date and location, father was Merrill. He was a geologist, and planned to travel to Colombia for geological work, leaving from New York on board the "unknown" "as soon as possible."
