Samuel Floyd Shelor is often written with middle initial 'T' due to illegible handwriting. Sam F. was a Sgt. in Co. D - 51st Va. Inf. as well as being mustered out as a Lieutenant in Co. C of the 51st Va. Inf. He was mustered in 14 Jun 1861 at Elamsville, Patrick Co., Va and mustered out 12 Apr 1865 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Va. He was wounded 19 Sep 1864 in the Battle of Winchester (Va.). He died in Roanoke 22 Jun 1913 while on furlough from the Confederate Veterans Home in Richmond. He is listed in the 1910 census of the home as S. F. Shelor, age 65.
