From the Massillon Independent, Massillon, Ohio. Thursday Oct. 29, 1896

"Catharine Cushenberry, a negro woman, died in Chillicothe, O, last week, at the advanced age of 116 years. She was born in Farquier county, Va. in 1780, belonging to a man by the name of Grey. In 1792, at the age of 11 was bought by a man in Moorefield, W.Va, and was afterward purchased by a Mr. Dyer, of Pendleton county, Va. Here one of her sons, George Herbert, found her in 1862, and he already having gained his freedom, bought her for $125. She has since lived in Chillicothe. These facts are well authenticated."
