Hi Katrina,

I took another look in my Ephraim book and I believe I found mention of your family.

Cobble Heaven by Hazel L. White

Truly, Little Denmark with it's friendly people, their quaint customs and mode of living gave me an appreciation of them and their native land. Peter and Katrine Christensen lived in a white brick house at 478 East and 4th South and Katrina's special Danish pastries were a neighborhood favorite. Pete worked as power house operator. His strong faith in the Gospel he had embraced in his native country made him a much needed servant of the Lord in the home of the sick. Pete's mother, Jensine Christensen, lived in a green house on the corner of 4th East and 5th South. The house has since been torn down.

Accross the street from the Christensens was the home of Paul and Elvira Mortenson, also from Denmark. Elvira had a lovely voice and loved to sing. She had a beautiful reed organ. It was delight to the neighborhood children to pump away on this intricately carved instrument. Her mother and dad lived in a little home across the street in a home my father, Alma Lund, and Uncle Will Schultz built. Paul's dad, "Absolute Mortenson" lived down the block at 295 South 4th East. These Danish folk with Jens Thompson and other friends would pass the long winter nights playing Swentzel, a Danish card game."

The book is Our Yesterdays and the story is located on pages 8 and 9.
