Both the Old Plano and Routh Cemeteries are in southern Collin County. The Old Plano Cemetery is on Avenue H and 11th Street, and is open to the public. There is a Texas Historical Marker in the northeast corner. Access from 14th Street and come south on Avenue H. The cemetery is about three blocks south of 14th in south Plano, east of Central Expressway (US 75). Routh Cemetery is in north Richardson, Collin County. It is south of Renner Road, north of Glenville Drive, east of US 75 and west of Plano Road. Easiest access: off US 75 northbound, take the Renner Road exit and turn right onto Glenville Drive at the Sleep 8 Motel off the frontage road. At the third crossover, make a u turn and head west. Off to the right, you will see a dirt road that heads north and the Routh Cemetery is about two hundred yards north of Glenville Drive up that road. You can see the southeast corner of the chainlink fence surrounding the cemetery. The cemetery, however, is locked for security reasons as it has been severly vandalized in the last 10 years. I have a key to the gate, and if you will let me know when you will be in Plano, I will make every effort to meet you there and give you a tour of the cemetery. There are several Drakes and Lyles buried there, as well as other earlier pioneer families of southern Collin and norther Dallas Counties.
