William Churchwell married to Catherine Rich are the parents of my great grandfather John Welsy Churchwell who married Ida Staton. My grandmother, Ada, was one of their children.

an interesting note; My mother - still living- was born on her grandfather ( John W) 60 th birthday. On her 21st, his 81st, they planned to celebratetogether. They were planning to go out to dinner; however, my mother went to get her hair done and was hit head on by another vehicle. She was hospitalized and placed intractor for neck and back injuries so he went to the hospital to celebrate with her.

Grandpa Churchwell died when I was 10 years but I remember him well. He was a thin man with very dark hair that turned almost pure white as he aged. He was very religious and never spanked his chlidren. The family mostly farmed but he did work on oil rigs for awhile. They raised cotton and in on census they were listed as Negro cotton farmers ( incorrect information)
