JOHN TATE, Sr b. abt 1760, poss. in Virginia, d.1826 in Overton, TN. He filed petition Overton Courts, Sept 1816 to legitimize his oldest two children born out of wedlock, DORCAS, his daughter who was already married to THOMAS SIMPSON and SAMUEL, his son.
