My ancestor is Robert PHILLIPS. This is the info I have on him. I cannot find out who his parents were or his 1st wife's surname or some of his children. Any help would be appreciated.

ROBERT PHILLIPS was born in Tennessee, May 1801, possibly in McMinn County.

The only information I have been able to find is in the Tennessee census of 1850. I found ROBERT PHILLIPS in McMinn County, TN. He was 50, wife - NANCY - 50, children: JOHN - 23, GEORGE - 19, ROBERT JR - 17, WILLIAM -
15, MARGARET - 11, MYRA - 9 and MARTIN - 6. All born in TN.

In Meigs county, adjacent to McMinn county, Robert's son, JAMES PHILLIPS - 22, MARGARET - 24 and NANCY CATHERINE - newborne is listed.

ROBERT PHILLIPS moved from Tenn to Franklin County, Illinois in 1857. He married MALINDA PHILLIPS KING, widow of JOHN KING in 1859. Only James H. & Robert, Jr. went with him that I know off. Does anyone know what happened to the other children & his first wife Nancy?? Was there some kind of epidemic during the late 1850's?

ROBERT PHILLIPS died 9 July 1884 in Franklin County, IL. He is buried in Horse Prarie Cemetary.
