Phoebe,
Sorry to say I misread the information that I received from WWW.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/6337/momI1893...Stating that and I will quote this time,: In addition to farming he (Thomas Morgan of Bedford County, VA) continues the trade as a miller. For some unknown reason, Indians did not like mills; his first mill was burnt by Indians who turned on the mill machinery when there was no grain to be ground and friction from the mill stones rubbing together set the building on fire. A second mill was built near the site of the first mill. He died in 1774, it is said he was killed by an arrow while standing in the mill door." So it was burned down one time and he was killed the second. However, I have heard the mill was then burned a second time from another source, but this is the only one in my files. I have four file cabinets and may find the other source another day. I have visited Bedford Co., Museum and gotten as much information as I could based on the fact that I thought but had not proven Thomas might be in our family. Since the DNA has been done by my cousin, Steve, it is now proven that Thomas was the grandfather of my William. The DNA also is identical to Thomas Morgan of Greene County TN.But for some unknwn reason, the DNA people put in a John as the father leading to Thomas of Bedford. As far as I could tell, it was not proven. By the way in the information from the quote, the name Phebe Morgan, wife of a descendent of Thomas'son Lewis, has done quite a lot of work to trace Thomas Morgan piror to his arrival in Virginia. Is that you? Also I received an e-mail from a phebem... and wondered if it might be you. A quietion was asked if I knew where the location of Adonijah was in Indiana. If you are the one, the answer is yes, in Fayette County but the statement given in the census was Adonijah Jr., and I also know that by 1820 as listed on the census, 39 families of Morgan had come (by flatboat as stated in the Indiana State Library) to Indiana. I have their names on a list.In Dearborn County were three Williams and in Clark County, one. One of these was my GGGrandfather. What I would like to know is if all those Morgans were related. I assume so but do want to be sure. There were names like Olliphant, Jesse, Micajah, Moses, Svis, E.E.,Joel, Adiah, Ebenezer, several Thomases, Michal, Samuel, Lambeth, and Randle. So anyone please check in if you know.
