Hello!
The Decatur Cty father, James McClanahan, had sons named Pinkney and Granville McClanahan. His birthplace was South Carolina, so I think they were named for Famous and admired Carolinians, perhaps Charles C. Pinkney, and the Earl of Granville. Just a theory!
