Dear Susan:
As late as 1910 to 1920 some ministers were circuit riders. They went from congregation to cognation and baptized & married at each stop. The record book, if kept at all, was the property of the minister and if he was transferred to another area, the book went with him. Things have changed over the years and you may want to do some research about the Pleasant Ridge Brethern Church, who were the ministers, were they circuit riders, etc. Many of the different denominations have merged and the central office may be able to help you.
Try the Kittochinny Historical Society to start with. They are located in the old jail in Chambersburg. For example, they have transcriptions of the Salem Church records.
Do a search on line or at your local Family History Center (LDS), if successful, you can order the microfilm on loan from Salt Lake.
Also do a search on this site for information about Pleasant Ridge Brethern Church. Be sure to click on the Franklin Board button.
Good Luck, Jack Novicki
