Well, Cody. Almost all the area Easy of Hwy 97 and West of Powell butte would be good for metal detecting. During WWII, the entire area was an Army training ground. As you know, a lot of the area is quickly being gobbled up for destination resorts and industrial property.
I live on the West side of Redmond and that is quickly being covered with houses. I did a metal detector survey of my property a few years ago and found old horse shoes, a bunch of teeth for a barker from a saw mill, and lots of junk. Never found any coins. People were too poor, I guess.
My production manager went metal detecting somewhere around here a few years ago and found a brass piece from a very old farm tractor, 1910-20s era. Probably from irrigation canal construction.
