most of my info came from research by Lloyd Bailey out of Durham,NC.He has done extensive work on the Howell family and written a book.He states:E.L. Howell 1872-1928,he is remembered by some of the residents as Elmer or Elbert. Near him,in an unmarked grave is Granny Bailey,his mother,who died Sept 6,1924.I believe he did his research here in Mayes County in the 1980's.Llyod is a professor and publisher with the Duke University.
