Just for interests sake I found what I think is the MI for Jane's husband and his father Patrick . Patrick must have been born around 1741 .
"Erected by Peter McMaster tenant in Eldrig in memory of his son Thomas McMaster who died in Eldrig aged 5 years Also his son John McMaster who died in infancy
Also his father Patrick McMaster late in Milton who died at Auchenmalg 18th December 1818 aged 77 years
Also his mother Elizabeth McLean who died at Old Mill 2nd.December 1823 aged 78 years
Also the erector of this stone Peter McMaster who died in Eldrig 12th February 1838 aged 58 years
Also his grand daughter Jane Helen Cumming who died 16th January 1849 aged 2 years
Also Agnes Cumming his grand daughter who died 6th November 1866 aged 21 years
Also James Cumming their father who died 14th January 1876 aged 67 years
Also Peter Cumming his son who died 6th February 1883 aged 42 years
Also William Cumming who died 8th August 1885 aged 27 years"

I have also found a marriage for a Peter Mcmaster and Jean Murchie in 1804 , Old Luce, Wigtown but the grooms father's name is given as Peter McMaster not Patrick. I am wondering if this is 'my' Peter and Jane as I am aware that the name Peter was interchangeable with Patrick. Very confusing!
