I have found the Defiance Co. Records Center 510 Court St., Defiance, OH 43512 (tel. 419-782-8918) to be most helpful. Their email is recordcenter@defiance-county.com. They have birth and death certificates from 1867 to 1908, marriage records 1845 to present, wills, estates, and other records. Their charge for copies is nominal (less than $1) Ask for Connie, Joyce, or Linda.

The oldest Catholic church in Defiance, St. John the Evangelist, 510 Jackson Ave. (419-782-7121) has good early records and responds quickly. Can't speak for the other churches in defiance, because I haven't tried them yet. Good luck.
