Gordena, I read your post re: birth records. My Grandfather Harry Doering was born in Kansas City, MO in 1899. So far I have not been able to get records on his birth. I was very successful in finding his info from Soc. Sec. I have yet to order his death certificate from Minn. He died during a vacation and is buried in Calif. You mentioned not being able to go yourself to search. Might I suggest that you put a post out asking for a "Favor" from fellow searcher in the town where you think the records is? I have been "trading" info with another and it works really well. I happen to live close to a county records facility and save a searcher tons of time. This same person contacted a historical society in PA and they helped her locate info and correct addresses to write to etc. I don't know how everyone does it but here in CA they copy some documents and not others. I have been researching marriage and death cert. back into early 1920s. and have not had many obsticals other than no knowing the years of my GGDoerings deaths and having to guess on the them and I am still working my way thru wonderful hand written indexes. I hope that you can find someone situated like myself who will "trade" or go for small compensation. Any chance that your husband's Doerings made it to Kansas City, Raytown area of MO? Good Luck!
