Linda,
I have read with interest your help with Jennifer's questions about Cleveland's schools, tech schools and orphanages. Perhaps you can help me with my predicament. I know that between 1880 and 1900, my grandmother, Margaret Baggot(t) emigrated to the USA with her widower father Maurice and brothers. She was less than 10 years old, I think. According to family history, the children were placed in an orphanage in Cleveland while the father sought work, etc. One of her brothers, John, was adopted and used the last name Howard until his death.
Is there a list somewhere of the various orphanages in Cleveland during that time period?
