I am working on our Jordans. I am stymied at Matthew whose will was handled through Johnston County. Am using DNA to help me. Sought and submitted a DNA sample for a descendant of Cornelius Jordan of Edgecombe (Wilson now). The results surprised me. Our Matthew is JG3. Cornelius Jordan of Edgecombe is JG8. Once again my work has contradicted some professional genealogists.
Has anyone submitted a family finder kit through familytreedna.com? Last year I helped establish and confirm several of Gray Jordan of Edgecombe (he is JG3). Looks like this year I may be able to help some Wilson families. Since the kit didn't match our Matthew I am not inclined to do a family finder test right away. Wanted to put it out there though that this Jordan line is established. And it's a good thing. It will go extinct with the current generation! Also of concern, the family finder kit submitted would have to be from someone over 70/80. The older the better. It casts a net back 5-7 generations. We need early lines of Wilson to establish themselves in both the Y-marker surname projects AND include the family finder test. I think my work may help you with your lines.
Look forward to hearing what your thoughts are.
