The years we are looking at for you, Surry, Wilkes and Ash County were all Rowan County. Then Surry Co, NC and Washington Co, TN were formed from those two counties came Wilkes County and from Wilkes County Ash came about. So it is possible this person was in the same area all the time. I am working on it now.
